HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Allen University women's soccer team got out to a fast start on Tuesday afternoon scoring two quick goals against D-2 foe Coker College on the road.
However, that would be all the goals the AU women could muster in the game as Coker stepped up their defense and shut down the Jackets the rest of the way. In just the third minute of play, sophomore
Alicia Coleman would get Allen on the board first scoring her first goal of the season.
Freshman midfielder Alexia Valasquez then scored in the 15th minute of action off an assist from fellow freshman
Tatyana Machado to stake Allen to a quick 2-0 lead. It was Alexia's third goal of the season.
However, Coker would come charging back scoring back-to-back goals in a span of four minutes midway through the first half to tie the match at two apiece. Coker would then add their third goal late in the half in the 43rd minute to take a 3-2 lead into the break.
The Cobras would then score an insurance goal in the 54th minute of the second half to go up 4-2 while Allen got off a few more shots on goal but could not find the tying pieces.
Allen has now scored 13 goals on the season. Sophomore Goalkeeper
Kaiyah Robinson made 3 saves on 7 shots on goal.
Allen falls to 1-5 with the loss while Coker improves to 4-1-1. The Yellow Jackets will next return home to host Shaw University on Saturday at 3:00 PM from the SC United Freight Lines Complex.Â
