COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Allen University football team will open their 2023 season when they host Erskine College this Saturday, Sept. 2 at 7:00 PM from Westwood HS in Blythewood, SC.

Allen last battled Erskine in 2021 in Greenwood, SC where the Flying Fleet defeated the Yellow Jackets 47-40 in a shootout that featured a nearly combined 1,000 yards of offense. 

The Yellow Jackets, led by head coach Teddy Keaton, is coming off a heartbreaking season where they dropped four games by a combined total of 14 points including three by 3 points or less. 

The Yellow Jackets' offense returns junior RB Beau Herrington's 883 yards of total offense and 5 touchdowns while freshman WR Armone Harris registered 517 yards and 4 touchdowns and is looking for another big sophomore year. Sophomore QB David Wright was also having a stellar season throwing for over 1,000 yards in the air with 5 TDs and zero interceptions and completing 60% of his passes before going down with a season-ending injury after just five games. 

Defensively, Allen returns almost all of their team from a year ago led by senior all-conference 2nd team linebacker Gary Bourrage and junior OLB Justin Eaton and sophomore corner Kevin Graham. Bourrage led the team with 66 tackles (30 solo) while Eaton led with 7 sacks and 2 blocked kicks. Graham led with 4 interceptions. 

Erskine is coming off a 2-9 season last year under 4th year coach Shap Boyd and were led by 7 TDs rushing from RB Kevon Catoe and 6 TDs and 1,100 yards from QB Bryce Jeffcoat.
