WBB's Toland Selected to Work Women's College B-Ball Academy

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Allen University women's basketball head coach Toccara Toland has been selected to work as one of the 96 coaches, and one of two HBCU coaches, to work the inaugural Women's College Basketball Academy in Memphis, TN.

The academy will take place from July 28-31.
The NCAA College Basketball Academy is a developmental summer basketball academy conducted by the NCAA with input from the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.

The invitation-only Academy will be for women's basketball prospective student-athletes from the classes of 2024, 2025, and 2026. Up to 400 women's basketball prospective student-athletes will be selected to attend the Academy.

Toland is a certified Gold License Coach now as well. The Gold License program focuses on educating coaches and the safety of those with whom the coach may come in contact. The goal is to develop an inclusive basketball community of credible, qualified, and dedicated coaches and administrators.

"I am humbled and grateful for the opportunity to coach and learn at the women's basketball academy this summer," coach Toland said. "It will be great experience to collaborate and network with the various coaches from around the country. I look forward to seeing and training the student-athletes while simultaneously providing exposure for Allen University."

Each coach will be responsible for managing and leading a team of eight to nine prospects for the duration of Academy. Two coaches will be assigned to each team participating in the Academy. Coaches are expected to lead and coach their team on the court in games, as well as attend any off the court activities, such as life skills sessions. Additionally, they will help with the transitions of their team to and from games and their Athletics Assessment.
