JASPER, Ala. - The Allen University softball program finished up their trip to Jasper, Alabama this past weekend to compete in the SIAC Crossover Tournament. AU fell in both of their final games on Monday to West foes Miles College and Spring Hill College.
However, senior
2B Breighana Spencer was honored after the tournament for being named to the All-SIAC Crossover Team for her efforts on the week in helping Allen pick up their first win of the year on Saturday. She led the team over the weekend in hits with three, runs scored with 3 and RBIs with 3 while hitting .294 on the year and an OBP of .410 and is the first player in AU softball program history to win a SIAC award since joining the conference last year as a DII institution.Â
Miles (11-7, 5-0) defeated Allen 16-1 in the first game on Monday while Spring Hill got ahead early and took advantage of some AU errors to shut out the Jackets in game two.
Miles only outhit the Jackets 10-6 in the 5-inning game and scored 8 of the first 10 runs on AUÂ errors, wild pitches or passed balls.

Daeshonna Beckham-Timmons also all recorded singles as well.
Beckham-Timmons (0-14) allowed 10 earned runs on 10 hits while walking 11 and striking out four.
Against Spring Hill, Spencer and outfielder
Michaela Barron led the team with one hit apiece while Davis also walked and stole a base. Sophomore relief pitcher
Rachel Rolle then tossed a scoreless inning in the loss allowing just one hit and one walk.
AU, now 1-9 in the SIAC, will next head back on the road on Friday to take on CIAA foe Fayetteville State at 2 and 4 PM. The Yellow Jackets will return home on Sunday to host Benedict at 1 PM while they play at Benedict on Saturday at 1:00.
