JASPER, Ala. - The Allen University softball team cruised to their first win of the season on Saturday rolling past SIAC West foe LeMoyne-Owen College (TN) 9-2 at the SIAC Crossover in Jasper, AL. It is the first win against a SIAC opponent for the Yellow Jackets since 2019.
The Lady Yellow Jackets used a five-run 2nd inning and 7 solid innings from sophomore pitcher
Rachel Rolle to pick up the win. Allen, unfortunately, fell to Kentucky State later in the day and now sit 1-1 in the conference.

Rolle (1-7) threw 7 innings allowing two runs in the first inning before settling in and shutting out the Lady Magicians over the final six frames allowing just two runs on 7 hits with 5 walks and a season-high seven strikeouts.
Allen knocked 7 hits for the game including a team-high two hits and two RBIs from junior RF
Michaela Barron. Seniors 2B
Bre Spencer and CF
Morgan Moon led the team with 3 RBIs apiece while senior 3B
Daeshonna Beckham-Timmons also went 1 for 4 with an RBI single.
AU got on the board first with Spencer coming in to score on a LOC error before the Lady Magicians would score two runs in the bottom half to lead 2-1. The Ladies, however, would come right back and pounce on the Magicians with five runs in the second inning. Spencer's two-run two-out single re-gave Allen the lead before back-to-back-to-back RBI singles from Moon, Barron, and Beckham put AU up 6-2.
Allen then added three more insurance runs in the 6th inning with Rolle scoring on a fielder's choice and Barron driving in two runs on a ball hit to left combined with an error on LOC. Rolle reached base twice via walks and scored two runs while Spencer scored 3 runs and recorded a single. Also registering hits were 1B
Jasmine Blaxton and catcher
Marcell Hernandez. The Yellow Jackets stole four bases as well with Spencer, Barron, Moon, and Beckham each stealing one apiece.
AU then fell to KSU 9-0 in the second game later on Saturday. The game was scoreless through the first two innings before KSU (7-9, 2-0) scored three runs in the third on an error and passed ball. The Thorobreds then added four more runs in the 4th on a double, and two singles before ending the game with two final runs in the 5th.
Allen was led by hits from Rolle and Hernandez while game two starter Beckham-Timmons threw 5 innings allowing six earned runs on 7 hits walking four and striking out seven.
The Jackets will return to action on Monday now against two more West Division foes, Miles College at 12:15 and Spring Hill College at approx. 4:30. The games were postponed from Sunday to Monday due to rain in Jasper. The two games schedule for Monday against Lane and Tuskegee have since been canceled as rain wiped out a third of the schedule.
