COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Allen University men's basketball team rolled to an easy win over non-conference foe Carolina Christian College 85-59 from Adams Gym Friday evening.
Allen was led by 19 points on 5 of 7 shooting from three from senior guard
Austin James along with 2 assists, 2 steals and a block while four other Yellowjackets finished in double-figures. They include sophomore wing
Jordan Edmonds who scored 12 with a block while junior forward
Demetri Patterson had his best game of the season scoring 10 points with 5 rebounds and a steal. Sophomore point guard
Marc Raye Jr. then made his season debut and finished with 11 stellar points on 5 of 8 shooting with 2 rebounds and 2 assists.
Also playing well was senior forward
Mohamed Alkadi with 8 points, two threes, 5 rebounds and 2 blocks while fellow senior forward
Tyriq McAdoo finished with 8 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals and an assist.
Junior point guard
G'Shan Aldridge led the team with six assists in just 17 minutes of action while sophomore shooting guard
Peyton Weathersby led with four steals along with 3 assists.
Allen shot 48.5 percent from the floor for the game and 41 percent from behind the 3-point arc a they outscored the Centurions 44-25 in the first. half. AU then played their reserves in the second half and still outscored CCC 41-34 for the victory.
Allen improves to 6-3 on the season while Carolina Christian falls to 0-8. The men will next head down to the
Caribbean at the U.S. Virgin Islands for the
UVI HBCU Classic at the University of the Virgin Islands campus next weekend. Allen will take on Bloomfield College, NJ in the first round on Friday at 11:00 AM. If they win, they will advance to Saturday's semifinals against either WV State or Fort Lauderdale Univ.
