Box Score SUMTER, SC - The Allen University women's basketball team rolled to a non-conference win 67-46Â over NAIA foe Morris College Thursday evening.
The women took a 31-13 halftime lead as their defense held Morris to just 18 percent shooting for the half while Allen shot 34.5 percent. AU outscored Morris 15-9 in the first and 16-4 in the second quarter.Â
Then, in the second half, the women shot 35 percent in the third and outscored the Hornets 22-13 before Morris won the final quarter 20-14. Allen shot 33 percent for the game while Morris (1-9) shot just 25 percent.
Allen was led by freshman forwardÂ
Zion Duncan with 10Â points and 9 rebounds and junior forward
JuJu Harrington with 12 rebounds, 4 points and 2 steals. Shooting guards
Taliah Wesley and
Tati Morris also each scored 8 points apiece as Wesley added 2 assists and 2 steals with Morris grabbing 3 boards.
A trio of Jackets then scored six points apiece including guards
Nari Coe,
Kayla Pope, and
Ayva Tillmon. Coe added 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals as well. Guard
Maya Johnson also scored 5 points with 4 boards.
AU improves to 4-3 on the season and will next go on the road for a pair of weekend SIAC West games against Kentucky St. on Saturday and Central State on Monday night.
