SUMTER, SC - The Allen University men's basketball team cruised to an easy 84-55 win over NAIA foe Morris College on the road Thursday evening.
The men got out to a roaring start over the first 10 minutes leading 23-6 before Morris clawed to within 7 points with a minute to go in the first half as they went on a prolonged run of 22-12.
Allen would take a 38-28 halftime lead shooting 50 percent in the first half while holding Morris to just 30 percent and only 23 percent from three.
In the second half, Allen would outscore the Hornets 46-27 as Morris could never get within single digits the rest of the game. AU had a trio of Yellowjackets finish in double-figures with junior guards
G'Shan Aldridge and
Austin James and senior forward
Tyriq McAdoo all scoring 14 points apiece. McAdoo grabbed 12 rebounds as well for his second double-double of the season. Aldridge also led the team with six assists, five rebounds, and 3 steals while James led the team with four treys along with 4 rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Sophomore guard
Peyton Weathersby also played well finishing with 12 points, three rebounds and four assists while junior center
Tavis Bridges was the final member of the Yellow Jacket quintet scoring double-digit points with 10 along with 5 boards and a steal. Junior Guard
Talton Jones also finished with four assists and four points.
Allen improves to 3-3 on the season while Morris falls to 0-7. AU will next go on the road for a pair of weekend SIAC West games against Kentucky St. on Saturday and Central State, OH on Monday night.
