FRANKFORT, KY - The Allen University men's basketball team won a thrilling conference game over Kentucky State 67-65 on a
Nakia Johnson, Jr. buzzer-beating jumper to stun the Thorobreds.
Johnson led Allen with 10 points along with three rebounds while fellow forward
Tyriq McAdoo registered another double-double, his third in the past 4 games with 10 points and 13 rebounds as well as two assists.
The Yellow Jackets got off to a quick 12-2 start over the first five minutes before keeping their advantage to lead 25-16 at the 6:15 mark of the first half. KSU would then get to within two points at 28-26 at the 2:40 mark before Allen finished the half on a 9-2 run to take a 37-28 lead at the break.
Allen still held a nine-point advantage six minutes into the second half leading 48-39 before KSU went on a 15-7 run to climb within one point at 55-54 with 6 minutes to play. AU then responded and extended their lead back to nine at 63-54 with 3:40 to play. However, KSU (2-2, 0-1) would rally once again going on an 11-2 run to tie the game at 65 with 16 seconds to play. Finally, a Peyton Weatherby assist to Johnson on his made jumper gave Allen the thrilling win.

Talton Jones was the other Yellowjacket to finish in double-digits scoring 11 points while Weathersby added 9 points and a team-best 4 assists. Fellow guard
Austin James then finished with 8 points, 3 assists and two steals while junior center
Tavis Bridges added 7 points and 3 rebounds.
Allen improves to 4-3 on the season and 2-1 in the SIAC with their 4th win in the past five games. Allen will next head to Ohio to battle Central State on Monday at 7:30 PM.
