COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Allen University men's basketball team fell 60-55 at home Monday night to SIAC West foe Lane College (TN).
With the loss, Allen drops to 1-1 in the conference and 2-3 overall. Lane improves to 2-2 and 1-1 in the SIAC.
A low-scoring first half saw Allen take a 13-10 lead halfway through the period before Lane went on a 11-2 run to go up by six, 21-15. Allen then closed the half on a 8-3 run to trail 24-23 at the break.
In the second half, Â Lane got out to a quick 29-23 lead before Allen went on a 22-12 run to take their biggest lead of the night 45-41 with 8 minutes to play. Unfortunately, the Dragons would come right back with a 15-4 run of their own to lead 56-49 with 4 minutes to play. However, Allen could only get to within four down the stretch as Lane held on for the SIAC win.
Each team shot 45 percent for the game and 40 percent from three, ironically, but the difference came with Lane making two more three-pointers than the Yellowjackets.
Allen was led by 13 points from sophomore wing
Jordan Edmond and 10 points apiece from junior guards
G'Shan Aldridge and
Austin James. Aldridge also added 7 assists while James had 4 rebounds, a block and a steal.
Sophomore guard
Peyton Weathersby also led with five steals along with 6 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. Fellow shooting guard
