ATLANTA, GA - The Allen University volleyball team fell in three sets on the road at SIAC foe Clark Atlanta University on Saturday afternoon.
CAU won a tight first set 25-21 before cruising 25-14 and 25-11 over the next two to get the win. CAU tallied 12 kills in the first set while Allen recorded just eight with 7 attack errors. CAU then played well on the attack in set two registering 13 kills and hitting .500 while Allen put up 9 kills. It was all Lady Panthers in the third set, unfortunately, hitting .229 with 12 kills while holding AU to just 3 kills and forcing them into 8 errors and six serve errors.
However, Allen falls to 9-9 on the season and 3-8 in the SIAC while CAU moved into 3rd place in the conference at 7-3 and 10-7 overall.
Allen was led by eight kills and a block from sophomore OH
Maliyah Spencer along with 4 kills and 9 assists from senior setter
Kayla Chambliss. Liberos
Jayla Neely and
Myra Lopez combined for 11 digs with Lopez adding a kill and Neely an ace.
Junior middle
Taylor Lawrence also played well with 3 kills and zero errors while freshman RSHÂ
Tahmiah Lawson had 4 kills and an assist.
the Lady Yellow Jackets will next be in action on Monday night as they return home to host Savannah State at 6 PM.
