COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Allen University women's soccer team picked up their third win of the season on Monday afternoon defeating visiting Lincoln University 3-1 at home from the SC United Complex.
Freshman defender
Lillian Smith led the Yellow Jackets with a goal and an assist on the day while fellow freshman forward
Tatyana Machado and senior forward
Acacia Small also tallied goals for the Jackets.
Lincoln actually got on the board first scoring in the 10th minute of action off a misplayed ball from Allen off a pass through the middle. However, that only motivated the Jackets more as they came right back with a goal from Machado in the 11th minute off a great free kick from Smith. Allen then increased their lead to 2-1 midway through the half as
Lillian Smith scored off a beautiful free kick from midfield that soared over the keeper's head and into the back of the net.
The Lady Yellowjackets then scored an insurance third goal of the day in the 53rd minute of the second half when Small knocked it in off a corner kick from freshman midfielder Alexia Valasquez to put Allen up 3-1. AU then held the Lady Lions scoreless and shot-less for the rest of the game.
AU out shot Lincoln 17-4 overall including 10-0 in the second half. Freshman keeper
Rianda Pimienta Solano also made one save on 2 shots on goal.
Allen improves to 3-10 on the season while dropping Lincoln to 1-10. Allen will remain home this week to host city rival Columbia College on Friday at 2:00 PM.
