COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Allen University women's soccer team used a 4-goal first half to hang on and defeat visiting Trinity Baptist 4-3 at home Thursday afternoon from the SC United Complex.

Freshman forward Tatyana Machado recorded a hat trick in the first half scoring three goals to give Allen a 4-1 lead at the break. Also scoring for Allen in the first half was junior midfielder Tonie Sledz as she scored off a free kick that deflected off a Eagle defender and into the net in the 26th minute for Allen's second goal.

TBC got on the board first scoring in the 9th minute of action before the Lady Jackets came back to score in 16th minute on Machado's first goal. Following Sledz's goal, Machado then scored her second goal off a beautiful assist from senior striker Shakeryah Passmore in the 31st minute to put Allen up 3-1. Machado then added her third and final goal in the 36th minute to give Allen the sturdy lead.

TBC added their second goal of the game in the 75th minute before getting their third goal with a minute to go but Allen held on for the win. Allen won the shot count in the first half in dominating fashion 11-4 before TBC led 9-2 in shots in the second half with each team ending with 13 shots apiece.
Freshman goalkeeper Rianda Pimienta Solano made 6 saves on 9 shots on goal to get her first win as well.


Allen improves to 2-9 on the season and will next head to USC-Beaufort on Saturday for a 1:00 battle before returning home on Monday to host Lincoln University at 1 PM.
