MONTGOMERY, AL - The Allen University wrestling team kept up their winning ways by going 2-0 on Saturday at the Huntingdon College tri-match in Alabama.
Allen first routed Lincoln Memorial (TN) 42-9 before holding off Div. IIIÂ Huntingdon 30-21.
The wins improve Allen to 8-3 on the year. The Yellow Jackets will next compete in the Huntingdon Hawk Invitational on Sunday, an individual tournament.
In the 9-point win over Huntingdon, Allen got off to a 21-0 lead with three forfeit wins and a decision win by freshman Quincy Gash at 141 lbs as he notched three takedowns. Junior Terrence Mills also added a close 6-5 decision win at 174 while junior Mike Jackson won by a third period fall at 184 lbs.
In the 42-9 win over LMU, Allen rallied from an early 9-0 deficit with 6-point falls from Nyshaad Hannon at 133 lbs, Ya'Donnis Hardaway at 165, D'Andre Wilkerson at 197, and Timyris Lippett in his team debut at heavyweight. The Jackets also got forfeit wins form Mills and Jackson i the upperweights as well as 3-point decision wins from Drevon Wallace and Moise Toussaint in the middle weights. AU ran off 7 straight wins to take the big win.
AU had now won 5 of their past six duals and will next go on the road to nearby Laurinburg, NC to battle in the St. Andrews Duals on Friday afternoon at 2 PM.
