COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Allen University men's basketball team fell 82-56 at home to SIAC foe Morehouse College (Ga.) on Saturday evening.
The Tigers got out to a fast 16-2 start against the Yellow Jackets en route to taking a 39-20 halftime lead. MC shot 47 percent in the first half while Allen struggled to shoot just 26.5 percent and only 11 percent from three.
Morehouse would then continue to push the pace in the second half extending their lead to 33 points at one time before Allen finished the game on a 13-6 run. Allen shot just 33 percent overall for the game and only 25 percent from behind the arc.
Sophomore point guard
Chase Cook led the Jackets with 11 points and 4 assists with 3 three-pointers and 2 steals while freshman shooting guard
Peyton Weathersby had 10 points. Fellow guard
Anthony Baker Jr. also scored 8 points with 5 rebounds while freshman guard
Mike Best added 6 points and 2 assists. Freshman forward
Nakia Johnson led the team with 8 rebounds as well.
Allen falls to 1-12 overall and 1-7 in the SIAC while Morehouse improves to 6-5 overall and 3-4 in the conference. The Jackets will remain home to finish their four-game homestand by hosting Clark Atlanta on Monday evening at 7:30 pm.
