COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Allen University women's basketball team's second half rally fell just short against West Division leader Tuskegee University (AL) as the Lady Yellow Jackets lost 72-66 in their first home game of the new year on Monday evening.
Allen got out to a quick 12-6 lead in the first five minutes of the game before TU went on a 17-7 run to win the first quarter by a score of 23-19. Tuskegee then took a 40-33 lead into the break. A low-scoring third quarter saw the Lady Tigers increase their lead to nine at 54-45 before Allen went on a prolonged 26-16 run over two quarters to get within three at 66-63 with 1:45 to play. However, TU closed it out at the free-throw line for the victory. Allen shot 47 percent in the 4th quarter to outscore the Tigers 21-18.
The Yellow Jackets were led by a big game from senior forward
Cardrina Nolen as she scored a season high 21 points on 10 of 14 shooting with 6 rebounds. Junior guard
Destinee Jamison-Whitfield had a quality game as well registering a double-double of 15 points and a team-high 11 rebounds with three assists and a team-best 5 steals.

Jazeem Bethea also scored 8 points with 3 rebounds and 3 steals while guard
Eden Billups-Campbell also added 5 points and one assist with junior guard
Keyshuna Fair recording 3 assists, 3 boards, and a steal.
Allen falls to 3-6 overall and 1-5 in the SIAC while Tuskegee improves to 10-3 and 7-0 in conference. Allen will remain home to host Spring Hill College on Wednesday evening at 5:30 pm.
