ALBANY, Ga. - The Allen University women's basketball team rallied in the fourth quarter to outlast Albany St. 59-55 on the road on MLK Day Monday afternoon.
The fifth straight win improves Allen to 8-6 in the season and 5-5 in the SIAC. ASU falls to 6-11 overall and 4-7 in conference.
Albany got out to a first quarter lead at 17-12 and extended it to 29-14 with 4 minutes to play in the first half However, the Lady Jackets then began to chip into the deficit holding the Lady rams scoreless over the final four minutes of the second quarter while going on a 11-0 run to trail by just four at the break, 25-29.
ASU would then again get off to another good start in the third quarter increasing their lead to 12 to go up 38-26 with 6:30 to play in the quarter. However, it's not how you start its how you finish as the Jackets closed the quarter on a 16-7 run to trail by just three heading into the fourth.

Kayla Pope and a
Cardrina Nolen jumper then gave the Jackets the lead at 50-46 early in the fourth. ASU would regain the lead at 53-52 with 3:50 left before Allen closed the game iut on two jumpers from Nolen and free throws from Fair to end the game on a 7-2 run.
Junior guard
Destinee Jamison-Whitfield led the Jackets with 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals while fellow shooting guard
Keyshuna Fair posted 13 points with 5 boards and 2 steals as well.
Senior forward
Cardrina Nolen also finished in double figures with 11 points and 5 rebounds while junior guard
Kayla Pope had a solid game off the bench scoring 11 points with 7 rebounds and a team-best 3 assists and two 3-pointers.
The women will next be in action on Thursday evening when they make the short trip to Voorhees College for a 6 pm tip.
