AU then kept up the intensity and outscored the Tigers 19-8 in the second quarter to take a 39-15 lead at the break. However, Voorhees would then start to mount a furious rally in a high-scoring third quarter outscoring the Jackets 27-21 but Allen still held a 60-44 lead heading into the fourth.
