COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Allen University Volleyball team fell in four thrilling sets to conference rival Benedict College (S.C.) from a raucous Adams Gymnasium on Wednesday evening.
Allen rallied to steal the first set from the Tigers 25-23 before BC stormed back in the second set to take it 28-26. Benedict then built a big lead en route to winning the third set 25-16 before BC held off the hard-charging Yellow Jackets 25-20 to clinch the match.
Benedict improves to 8-6 overall and 5-5 in the conference with the win while Allen falls to 9-7 and 4-5 in the SIAC.
Freshman outside hitter and current SIAC Newcomer of the Week,
Maliyah Spencer, led the Yellow Jackets with a season-high of 19 kills, 2 blocks, and 7 digs while hitting at a .385 clip.Â
However, junior setter Kayla Chambliss had a career night posting a triple-double of 10 kills, 10 digs, and 24 assists to lead Allen. She also added 3 aces and a block to cap her night.

Marlaysia Westbrook posted 7 kills along with 6 total blocks while DS
Janae Greene led the team with 12 digs along with 2 kills, 2 assists, an ace and a block. Setter
Jyla Clayton was also just a dig shy of a double-double with 15 assists and 9 digs.
Allen's next game with Edward Waters on saturday was postponed due to the approaching Hurricane and will be reschedule for later in October.
