COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Allen University volleyball team fell in three sets to a tough non-conference Div. II foe in Erskine College (S.C.) at home on Tuesday night.

Erskine won each set by the same scores of 25-10 as they got out to strong starts in each one. However, in the second set Allen rallied from an early deficit to get within two points at 12-10 but a long rally did not go their way and Erskine then used the change in momentum to go on a game ending 12-0 run to take the set.

Erskine (3-11) totaled 22 kills in the match hitting .200 while AU managed just 10 kills while making 26 errors.

Freshman Libero Jayla Neely led the Jackets with 10 digs on the night as she was named SIAC Defensive Player of the Week earlier in the day. Junior middle Marlaysia Westbrook then led the team with 3 kills and one block while SIAC Setter of the Week Kayla Chambliss also had 6 assists with 2 kills and 5 digs.

Allen falls to 7-3 overall and will next head down to Cartersville, Ga. to compete in the 10-team SIAC Crossover event on Friday and Saturday. Allen will play in five total matches against foes from the West Div. in the SIAC: two on Friday and three on Saturday. Allen's first match on Friday is against Spring Hill College at 3:00 PM. They will then battle Tuskegee University at 6 PM.
