COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Allen University volleyball team won their sixth straight game on Saturday morning trouncing SIAC West Division foe Lemoyne-Owen College (TN) 3-0 at HRC Arena on the Benedict campus.
Allen improved to 7-1 after the win and then took on Lane College (TN) at 1:00 PM from Benedict but fell 3-1 in four sets.
Allen will now come back to Adams Gymnasium to host Erskine College (S.C.) on Tuesday evening at 6 PM.
AU 3, LOC 0
Allen rallied from 10-3 deficit in the first set going on a 22-10 run to close the set 25-20 on 15 kills hitting .183. The Jackets then hit an impressive .355 in the second set with 15 kills and only 4 errors as they built a big lead and held on for the 25-20 win.
Finally, in the third set, Allen again got out to a 19-10 lead before closing out LOC 25-15 on 12 kills hitting .226.
Freshman outside hitter
Maliyah Spencer led the charge with 13 kills, an ace and 4 total blocks while hitting .345. Fellow outside
Natalia Maciejewska then followed with 11 kills and 12 digs for her first double-double of the season.
Also recording a double-double was junior setter
Kayla Chambliss with 31 assists and 13 digs along with a block and 2 kills while freshman libero and
Defender of the Week Jayla Neely finished with 12 digs and 6 assists.

Cadence Leaks played well also with 9 kills, 3 digs, and 2 blocks and hit .261.
LANE 3, ALLEN 1
Lane got off to a strong start in the first set against Allen taking it 25-19 on 13 kills while forcing 10 Allen errors. Allen then dominated the second set winning 25-12 on 8 kills while going on a big run mid set behind freshman
Maliyah Spencer's serving and hitting. Lane then made some adjustments and shut down the Yellow Jackets over the final two sets taking them 25-13 and 25-12 to pull out the win on 27 kill and only 7 attack errors.
Spencer led the team with 8 kills and 5 aces with a block while junior middle
Marlaysia Westbrook added 5 kills and 4 total blocks. Chambliss led with 19 assists along with 8 digs and 3 kills as the setter while Neely led with 14 digs along with 2 assists and 2 aces as the libero.
Allen finishes the day 1-1 and is now 2-1 in the SIAC and 7-2 overall. Lane improved to 13-5 overall and 2-0 in the SIAC as they outlasted host Benedict College in 5 sets earlier in the day.Â
