COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Allen University women's basketball team suffered a heartbreaking 83-81 loss at home to SIAC West foe Central State University on Monday evening.
CSU got out to a fast start leading 25-14 after the first quarter. However, Allen rallied putting together a quality second quarter behind a 17-9 run to trail by just 7 at 40-33 at the break.
The Lady Yellow Jackets then posted 23 points in the third to outscore the Marauders by four as they trailed by just three at 59-56 at the end of three quarters. The women would then go on a prolonged 21-11 run to take a 77-70 lead with just under three minutes to play. Unfortunately, CSU would rally and finish the game on a 13-4 run to edge the Jackets by two getting the final bucket on a fast-break layup off an Allen turnover.
CSU improves to 3-4 overall and 3-1 in the SIAC while Allen falls to 3-4 but 1-3 in the conference.
AU was led by 16 points from junior guard
Destinee Jamison-Whitfield along with her 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. Fellow junior guard
Eden Campbell-Billups also finished in double-figure scoring with 12 points while forwards, freshman
Talayah Boxley and seniorÂ
Cardrina Nolen finished in double-digit scoring as well. Boxley recorded 13 points with 5 rebounds and a steal while Nolen had nine rebounds while scoring 11 points before fouling out late.Â

Keyshuna Fair then led the team with 9 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals while scoring 7 points. Junior small forward
Jaida Reddin also scored 7 points with 5 rebounds and a block off the bench. Senior guard
Jazeem Bethea also posted 6 points and 3 assists and 3 steals while freshman forward
Kourtney English recorded 6 rebounds and 4 points off the bench.
Allen will now have about 11 days off before traveling to Alabama to battle SIAC West foe Miles College on Dec. 17 at 2:00 PM.
