FAIRFIELD, AL - The Allen University women's basketball team dropped their road game at SIAC foe Miles College 67-56 Saturday afternoon in Alabama.
Each team scored 13 points apiece in the first quarter before the Lady Bears outscored the Yellow Jackets 18-11 in the second quarter to lead 31-24 at halftime.
Allen then played very well in the third quarter outscoring the Bears 21-13 to take a 45-44 lead into the final period.  Allen would increase their advantage to six points early in the fourth leading 52-46 with 7 minutes to play. However, after AU was leading 56-54, Miles would then unfortunately close the game on a 13-0 run to grab the win.Â
Miles improves to 7-2 overall and 3-1 in the SIAC while Allen falls to 3-5 on the season and 1-4 in conference. Allen struggled from behind-the-arc for the game shooting just 26 percent from deep and only 33 percent overall while Miles shot 46 percent from long-range and 40 percent as a team.
Leading Allen on Saturday was junior guard
Destinee Jamison-Whitfield with 19 points on 8 of 13 shooting along with a team-best 8 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal.
Senior forward
Cardrina Nolen then added 7 points and 8 rebounds with a block and a steal while senior guard
Jazeem Bethea also scored 7 points with a team-best three steals.
Junior small forward
Jaida Reddin also added 6 points and 3 rebounds with an assist while fellow forward, freshmanÂ
Kourtney English had 3 points and 3 boards as well.
The Jackets will now have the holidays off before getting back to action on Monday, January 2 when they return home to host Tuskegee University at 5:30 PM.
