COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Allen University women's basketball team saw their lead erased in the fourth quarter as SIAC foe Kentucky State rallied for a five-point victory 73-68 over the Lady Jackets from Adams Gym on Saturday afternoon.
Allen scored the contest's first nine points to begin the game on a 9-0 run. AU then had a 15-12 lead after the first quarter. KSU, however, then went on to win the second quarter 20-16 to take a slim 32-31 halftime advantage. AU held KSU to just 25 percent shooting in the first half.

A back and forth third quarter saw the Yellow Jackets take a 52-51 lead on a layup by junior guardÂ
Kayla Pope to head into the fourth up by one as they outscored the Thorobreds 21-19 in the third. The Yellow Jackets then responded with a good jump shot to take back the lead 55-53. before the game was tied again at 57-all.

In the final moments of the fourth quarter the Yellow Jackets were able to come within three at 71-68 on a long-range jumper by junior guardÂ
Keyshuna Fair, as she finished with 10 points and three 3-pointers on the game. However, KSU made their free throws to close out the win with a 22-16 fourth quarter.
Allen was led by 13 points from junior guardÂ
Destinee Jamison-Whitfield along with her 6 rebounds and a block while senior forward
Cardrina Nolen finished with 10 points and 8 rebounds. Forwards
Jaida Reddin and
Talayah Boxley also combined for 18 rebounds as they each led AU with 9 rebounds apiece with Reddin also adding 2 blocks and a steal.
Junior Guards
Dasia Harden and
Kayla Pope also combined for 11 points and 8 assists while Pope led the team in steals with four and assists with four.Â
Kentucky State improved to 3-2 and 2-1 in the SIAC while falls to 3-3 and 1-2 SIAC. Allen will next remain home to host Central State (OH) on Monday at 5:30 pm.
