NEWBERRY, S.C. - The Allen University women's basketball team dropped a hard-fought game on the road at Newberry College on Tuesday evening falling 80-64 to suffer their first loss of the season.
The Wolves got off to a fast start scoring 27 points in the first quarter to take a 27-12 lead. Allen then improved their shooting in the second quarter hitting on 38 percent of their shots to match NC with 19 points apiece but would trail at the break 46-31 as Newberry shot 65 percent in the first half.
Allen would then start the third quarter on a 6-0 run and eventually 8-2 to trail by just 9 points early on in the quarter, but unfortunately could get no closer the rest of the way. NC would only outscore the Jackets just 20-18 in the third as Allen shot 42 percent. AU would win the fourth 15-14 but would be too late as they fell by 16 points.

Keyshuna Fair led Allen with 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals while junior guardÂ
Kayla Pope also scored 15 points off the bench as she led the squad with 32 minutes played. Senior forward
Cardrina Nolen also scored 8 points with 5 rebounds while freshman forward
Talayah Boxley led the team with 9 rebounds while scoring 6 points with a block. Junior forwardÂ
Jaida Reddin also scored 6 points with 3 rebounds, 2 steals and a block while junior point guard
Eden Campbell-Billups led with 3 assists along with 3 boards, 2 steals, and 4 points.
Allen falls to 2-1 on the season while Newberry improves to 2-4 on the year. Allen will next head to Tennessee to begin their SIAC schedule facing Lemoyne-Owen College on Saturday and Lane College on Monday.
