SPARTANBURG,
S.C. - The Allen University women's basketball team suffocated Converse University all afternoon Saturday with their defense while clutch shot-making helped the Lady Jackets to the 63-49 win, their second straight victory to start the season.
Converse got out to a low-scoring 13-9 lead after the first quarter before Allen came back to outscore the Valkyries 15-8 in the second quarter. Allen shot 30 percent int he first half while holding Converse to just 25 percent from the floor and only one three. Allen would lead 24-21 at the break.
in the third quarter, the Jackets came out shooting scoring 18 points to outscore CU 18-11 and lead 42-32. Allen would then put up 21 points in the fourth quarter as they held Converse to under 50 points for the game to get the 14-point victory. Allen would go on to shoot 50 percent in the second half and over 41 percent for the game.

Keyshuna Fair's 19 points and 5 rebounds on 7 of 13 shooting while going 4 of 8 from three-point range to lead the team. Junior shooting guard
Kayla Pope also finished in double-figure scoring putting up 13 points on four 3-pointers as well along with 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals.

Jazeem Bethea scoring 10 points with 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals while junior guard
Dasia Harden and senior forward
Cardrina Nolen each scored 7 points apiece off the bench.
Allen improves to 2-0 on the season while dropping Converse to 0-4. The Jackets will next be in action on Tuesday at 6 PM when they head up to Newberry College to battle the Wolves.
