COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Allen University women's basketball team cruised to their first win of the season on Tuesday evening rolling past Erskine College 91-55 from Adams Gym.
AU was led by 17 points on 8 of 13 shooting from junior guardÂ
Destinee Jamison-Whitfield while she also led the team with 7 rebounds and 2 blocks. Senior forward
Cardrina Nolen,
pictured below, also had a good game recording 14 points with 6 rebounds and a steal.
Allen got out to a fast start leading 17-8 after the first quarter and then 35-23 at halftime as they held Erskine to just 30 percent shooting while AU shot 45 percent themselves. Allen then outscored the Fleet 30-23 in the third quarter before dominating the fourth 26-9 to grab the big win. Allen shot nearly 51 percent overall for the game while limiting Erskine to 32 percent from the floor.
Also playing well for the Jackets was junior guard
Keyshuna Fair as she finished with 12 points on 4 of 7 shooting from the 3-point arc while senior forward
Taelor Symone Jackson added 8 points and 6 rebounds off the bench. Junior guard
Dasia Harden also played well off the bench scoring six points and grabbing 5 steals with 3 assists while fellow point guard, freshmanÂ
Kynew Barnwell led with four assists and also recorded 4 rebounds and 2 steals.
Allen, now at 1-0 will next go on the road to battle Converse College on Saturday at 2 pm.
