CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Allen University volleyball team dropped their road match 3-0 on Thursday evening at Johnson & Wales University in Charlotte.
The Jackets lost a tight first set 24-26 as AU tallied 13 kills to JWU's nine, but made more errors late. JWU then pulled ahead late in the second to edge the Jackets 25-23 has Allen totaled 12 kills, four more than the Wildcats. Allen again amassed more kills than JWU in the third set with 13, but their 10 attack errors let them down as they fell 25-23 with a block from JW being the clincher.
Freshman outside hitter 
Maliyah Spencer led the Jackets with 11 kills, four serve aces and a solo block while junior middler 
Marlaysia Westbrook played well notching 7 kills and hitting .211 with two solo blocks.
Junior setter 
Kayla Chambliss then led the charge with 27 assists and 11 digs for another double-double along with an ace and four kills.
Fellow setter 
Jyla Clayton also tallied 6 assists with an ace and 11 digs while freshman libero 
Jayla Neely led the team with 16 digs. Freshman middle blocker 
Jani Smith played strong again recording 5 kills with three blocks and two digs while freshman DS 
Janae Greene registered 9 digs, 2 aces, and two kills off the bench.
Allen falls to 11-11 with teh defeat while JWU improves to 13-16 on the year. AU will next head down to Florida to battle SIAC foe Edward Waters College at 6 pm.
