Dominant Third Quarter Leads Yellow Jackets Past Tigers

DENMARK, S.C. - Jazeem Bethea logged 25 points for the second consecutive game to lead the Allen women's basketball team to a 85-68 victory over Voorhees College Wednesday night.

With the victory, the Yellow Jackets snapped a four game losing streak and improved to 5-10 on the season.

Taelor Simone Jackson (14 points) and Brooke Kyle (10 points) joined Bethea as the three Yellow Jackets to score in double figures. Jackson and Bethea combined for 16 rebounds.

Defensively, Allen held Voorhees to 42.9% shooting from the field and 27.3% from three for the game.

After trailing by six at the half, the Yellow Jackets outscored the Tigers by 18 points in the third quarter to take control of the game. Allen extended its lead in the fourth quarter by winning the final frame, 25-21. 

The Yellow Jackets shot a stellar 20-26 from the free-throw line, which proved to be the difference in the contest. Individually, Bethea led Allen shooting 10-13 from the line.

Allen will look to stay hot when it hits the road Saturday to face Fort Valley State.
