COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Allen women's basketball team fell to Lane College, 40-66, Tuesday evening at Adams Gymnasium in Columbia, S.C.
With the loss, the Yellow Jackets fall to 4-8, while Lane improves to 8-5 on the year.
Allen was led by Brooke Kyle who tallied seven points and eight rebounds in 30 minutes of action. Aniya Keeling had another solid performance as she notched a team-high nine points.
Lane was led by Brailyn Tate who logged a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Kayla Simmons also notched a double-double for the Dragons as she tallied 13 points and 16 boards.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The first quarter was tightly contested as the two teams battled to an 11-8 ledger.
After Allen pulled to within two midway through the second quarter, Lane went on a 9-0 run to take a 28-17 lead. The Dragons maintained the lead and took a 30-22 lead into halftime.
Keeling led the Yellow Jackets in the first half with seven points, while Cyntheria Sullivan added five points and shot 2-3 from the field.
Lane came out with a solid performance in the third quarter and extended it's lead to 14 entering the fourth.
The Dragons put together a 7-1 run to start the fourth and never looked back. Lane continued to build upon the lead and went on to earn a 66-40 victory.
UP NEXT
Allen will look to bounce back Saturday when it hits the road to face Albany State.
