HOMECOMING GAMEDAY CENTRAL: ALLEN vs. COLUMBUS STATE

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Allen University football team will host the Columbus State Football Club for Homecoming 2021 on Saturday, Oct. 30, at Westwood High School in Blythewood, S.C. Kickoff is slated for a 2:00 p.m. 

The last time AU (3-4) matched up against Columbus State was during the 2019 season when the Yellow Jackets defeated the Cougars 52-16.

DYNAMIC TRIO
The Yellow Jackets' offense is guided by quarterback David Wright III and wide receivers Jayden Horace and Jamal Jones. 

Wright leads the SIAC in passing and total offense and has completed 59 percent of his passes (154-of-261). He leads the SIAC in passing yards (1,986 yards), passing yards per game (283.7 ypg), touchdowns (17) with eight interceptions for a passer rating of 138.3 while averaging a conference best 322.4 yards per game of total offense.

Jones leads the team in receptions (46), and is at the top of the SIAC in receptions per game (7.7) and receiving yards per game (116.2) and ranks second among the Yellow Jackets in yards per catch (15.2 avg.). He has recorded five touchdowns on the season and has finished with more than one hundred yards in the last three contests. He hauled in 13 receptions for 172 yards and two touchdowns in the win at Central State before tallying eight catches for 134 yards in the loss at Clark Atlanta. Last week in AU's loss at Erskine, he recorded eight catches for a team high 144 yards.

Horace has recorded 36 receptions for 562 yards (15.6 avg.) and four touchdowns and averages 80.3 receiving yards per game. In four games on the season, he has recorded 90 or more receiving yards and a 130-yard performance against Fort Valley State. In the loss at Erskine, Horace finished with eight receptions with a season high, 132 receiving yards and two touchdowns.  

#COMEBACKCARDIACJACKETS
The Yellow Jackets picked up both of its wins this season consecutively after pulling off game-winning drives late in the 4th quarter against Johnson C. Smith and Livingstone. AU has edged its opponents 22-18 in the last frame to pick up the monumental victories.

AU administered an 8-play 55-yard drive to defeat JCSU with :55 seconds left, before defeating Livingstone with one second left in the game. In the game against Livingstone, AU connected a 55-yard pass with a lateral for a touchdown, before converting a 2-point conversion to complete the comeback effort.

Kerry Thompson leads the defense with three sacks and two forced fumbles. Defensive back Diquan Brown tops the unit with 40 tackles (29 solo) and one interception. Linebacker Julius Pearson has chipped in an interception and a sack on the year with Dahlil Wlikins ranked second on the team with 38 tackles (26 solo).

CSFC (5-1) suffered its first loss of the season when it dropped a 21-20 decision to Huntingdon. The Cougars are set to host it conference championship in November.
