Toccara Toland

Coach Toccara Toland is entering her second full season and third overall as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Allen University.

During her first year at Allen in the 2020-21 season, she led her team to four wins in a shortened season before doubling that the following year to 8 wins in 2021-22. She has now again increased that to 11 wins so far in 2022-23 with 7 conference wins.

Toland comes to Allen University after three years at Piedmont International University, where she served as the Head Women’s Basketball coach from 2018-2021, compiling a 36-21 record. During Toland's three-year stint, the Bruins advanced to the NCCAA DI South Regional Championship twice and was ranked as high as #6 in the Nation. She also recruited and produced several Academic-Scholars, six All-Region student-athletes and the first NCCAA student-athlete of the week for the university since 2016. 

Toland, a graduate of Ferrum College in Ferrum, VA holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing. She has also earned a M.A.S in Sports Management with a concentration in Athletic Administration from Southern New Hampshire University. Toland completed an internship at Wake Forest University as an Operations Intern under Coach Kendra Samuels-Eaton in 2010. She is also currently pursuing her EdD at East Tennessee State University in Global Leadership.  Professional:

  • (2018-2012) Winston Salem Lady Warcats (Associate Head Coach/ Director of Operations) 27-20 record with 2 National Playoff appearances in the Women’s Blue-Chip Basketball League (WBCBL)
  • (2013-2014) South Asheboro Middle School (Head Coach- the Lady Comets posted a 13-4 record, completing the season with a trip to the Randolph Middle School Tournament Championship)
  • (2012-2013) Glenn High School (Head JV Girls Basketball Coach/ 10-9 Record)
  • (2012) Salem College (Assistant Volunteer Women’s Basketball Coach)
  • (2009) Parkland High School (Head JV Girls Basketball Coach)
  • (2005-2006) North High School, North SC (Assistant Varsity Coach/ Head JV Girls’ Basketball Coach)

Collegiate: Toland was a very distinguished player receiving a host of awards such as WBCA Division III All American, 2005 NCAA Division III National Assist Leader, USA South Player of the Year, and VaSID All-State Women’s Basketball First Team. In 2014, Toland was named to the USA South 50th Anniversary Women's Basketball Team and was most recently named to the Ferrum College Hall of Fame in 2021.  Semi-Pro: In 2005, Toland was selected to play for the San Jose Spiders in the Women’s National Basketball League, but unfortunately the team/league folded prior to her first season. In 2006, she played for the Southern Legends out of Orangeburg, SC for two years before relocating to NC. In 2010, she founded the Lady Warcats in the Women’s Blue Chip Basketball League and played for the team for two years before becoming the Associate Head Coach/Director of Operations. Coach Toland worked her way up the ranks and was named the Carolinas Regional Director from 2014 until 2016. Personal: Coach Toland is originally from North, South Carolina and resides in Columbia, SC with her daughter Diamond and son William.
