Montaze McRae

Montaze McRae is entering his 13th season overall in coaching and sixth in the collegiate ranks while also embarking on his third season with the Allen University football program. He serves as an assistant coach responsible for developing the offensive line and tight ends while also serving as the Recruiting Coordinator.

Prior to joining the staff at Allen, McRae was the Offensive Line/Tight End Coach and Academic Liaison/Recruiting at JCSU. McRae was also the O-Line Coach at Fayetteville St before that.

McRae gained coaching experience on the high school level at Southern Durham High. He served as the offensive line coach for seven seasons (2009-15). McRae coached and developed over 15 all-conference lineman.

With McRae on the coaching staff, Southern Durham won three Big 8 Conference Championships (2013-15), reached the 3-AA State Championship game (2015), and won the 3-AA State Championship in 2015.

McRae earned a Bachelor of Agriculture Education from North Carolina A&T State University in 2007. He attended NCAT on a full scholarship and complete the coursework for his degree in three years. McRae was a three-year letter winner as an Aggie and played every position on the offensive line.

McRae pursued a professional career in football and spent time with the Concord Speed and Fayetteville Guard of the American Indoor Football Association (AIFA). Following his playing career, McRae served in education as a teacher assistant and behavior specialist at Southern Durham High.

McRae is a native of Raeford, NC and graduate of Hoke County High (2004). He earned all-conference honors in his junior and senior seasons. In 2004, McRae was selected to the All Cape Fear Region Football Team and named an All Cape Fear Region Top 10 college prospect.

McRae continues to seek professional development opportunities and enhance his network. He is a member of the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated.

McCrae discovered/recruited Emanuel Wilson at Johnson C. Smith University, the Running Back now for the Green Bay Packers in the NFL.  He earned CIAA Rookie of the Year 2019, First Team Rookie Team, and 2nd Team All CIAA.
He also Coached Kion Smith at Fayetteville State in 2016, who is now with with the Miami Dolphins.  He has recruited or Coached his Offensive Line that are responsible for Three Rookie of the Year Football Players: Steve Greene 2016  My line paved the way for Rookie of the Year who rushed for over 1,000 Yards

He has twin sons Matthew and Trenten.
