Marvin Cunningham is entering his first season as the Defensive Assistant coach in charge of defensive backs for the Allen football program.

Cunningham, a native of Alabama, graduated from Hillcrest-Evergreen HS (AL) and played quarterback at Auburn for one season in 1989. He later played college basketball at Faulkner State Community College (Ala.) as well.

Cunningham has previously coached at Sidney Lanier HS in Alabama, having served as the defensive coordinator for current Allen DC L.C. Cole during the 2006 season that featured a trip to the Class 6A quarterfinals. Cunningham was later named head coach of S. Lanier HS's football program in 2016.

From 2008-2015, Cunningham returned to Lanier HS and spent three seasons as the assistant head coach. He also served as Athletic Director at a Montgomery, AL Middle School, which found success in football and other sports.
