James Hinton

Brad Hinton

James Hinton is entering his first season as wide receivers coach at Allen Univeristy in 2025. 

No stranger to the SIAC or the state of South Carolina, Hinton arrives at Allen with previous coaching experience in both the league and Palmetto state. From 2022-2024, Hinton served as the Wide Receivers coach at Fort Valley State University. During his three seasons with the Wildcats, Hinton also oversaw kick and punt returners and had five student-athletes earn All-SIAC selections. 

From 2016-2022, Hinton was an assistant football coach and head track and field coach at Clover High School in Clover, South Carolina. He held the same position at his alma mater, Independence High School, in Charlotte, North Carolina from 2008-2011. 

Hinton’s playing career saw him earn multiple accolades and championships at the prep and collegiate levels. While at Independence High School, Hinton was a four year varsity starter and was a member of the team that won the 2000 AAAA State Championship. His on-field performances earned him All-Region, All-State, and All-Charlotte Observer Team selections, along with being named to the 2000 North Carolina East vs. West Shrine Bowl. Hinton went on to attend North Carolina A&T University where he won the 2003 MEAC Championship, and then later he was a member of another championship squad after transferring to North Carolina Central University for one season and winning the 2005 CIAA title. 

Hinton earned his bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Winston-Salem State University.
