COLUMBIA, S.C. — In a hard-fought rivalry matchup between two of the SIAC's top contenders, Allen University dropped a 77–66 road decision to across-the-street rival Benedict College on Saturday inside HRC Arena, evening the season series at 1–1 after Allen's 81–78 win last month.
Despite the loss, the game delivered another chapter worthy of the Columbia rivalry, with both teams battling for conference positioning and proving why they sit among the SIAC elite.
Allen was led by Eboni Clay, who produced a standout performance with 23 points and five rebounds, keeping the Lady Yellow Jackets within striking distance throughout. Peighton Jambor added 13 points and a team-high 13 rebounds for a double-double effort, while Jasmine Norman contributed 12 points, including three made three-pointers.
The contest featured multiple momentum swings and four lead changes, with Benedict ultimately pulling away late in the fourth quarter. Allen's depth showed with 44 bench points, but Benedict capitalized at the free-throw line and controlled the glass down the stretch to secure the win.
With the season series now split and postseason positioning tightening, Saturday's matchup reinforced that this city rivalry continues to be one of the most competitive and pride-filled showdowns in the conference.
Allen aims to regroup and regain momentum in conference play as the Lady Yellow Jackets host Savannah State University for Senior Night on Monday, February 16, 2026. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m., with a special senior recognition ceremony scheduled prior to the game.
