Fort Valley, GA - The Allen University men's basketball team dropped a tough road contest to Fort Valley State, 80–73, on Wednesday afternoon. Despite the setback, Head Coach Douglas Whittler's squad showed continued signs of growth behind two rising stars.
Tavaris Bell was electric from the opening tip, pouring in a game-high 25 points on 10-of-21 shooting while adding 5 rebounds and 2 steals. The junior guard has quickly become a focal point for the Yellow Jackets on both ends of the floor.
Joining him was Christopher McKnight, who came off the bench to contribute 18 points and 8 rebounds. McKnight hit 3 triples and provided a much-needed scoring punch in the second half to keep AU within striking distance.
Jordahn Johnson added 10 points, and Ashton Henderson chipped in 9, as Allen held a 38–29 halftime lead before Fort Valley stormed back with a 51-point second half.
The Yellow Jackets (2–9 overall, 1–8 SIAC) now turn their attention to a key SIAC road matchup against Clark Atlanta Monday, January 5, 2026 at 8:00PM. With Bell and McKnight emerging as leaders and momentum beginning to build, the second half of the season could offer brighter days ahead.
