Allen Falls in Home Series to Edward Waters

COLUMBIA, S.C. --- The Allen University softball team was defeated by Edward Waters in a three-game series across two days. In a doubleheader Friday, Allen lost game one 17-0 in five innings, and game two, 16-5 in five innings. As the series concluded Sunday, Allen fell 25-0 in five innings.

GAME ONE:
In the bottom of the fifth, shortstop Brionna King connected on her XX double of this season to center field. In addition to King's extra-base hit, Tylar Crawford and Zoe Thompson each drew a walk against the Tigers. Both King and Crawford also stole a base.

In the circle, Elissa Rich struck out three batters over two innings of work, followed by Alaina Harvey who tallied two strikeouts in three innings of relief.

GAME TWO:
Allen's offense found their rhythm in the third inning of Friday's doubleheader. Kasiyah Byrd and Tania Shoulders led off the frame with a single and a walk, respectively. Two batters later, and a fielding error allowed Destiny Breton to safely reach and bring Byrd home from third.

Later in the fifth, Byrd and Shoulders once again sparked the Yellow Jackets. After back-to-back leadoff singles, Zoe Thompson singled to bring home Allen's second run of the game. Later in the inning, with the bases loaded, another fielding error by EWU saw Shoulders come home. Then, Jeramyah Adams drove in a run with an RBI groundout. Allen's two final runs both scored on an error by the Tigers' catcher.

On the base paths, Adams and Ta'Keviya Sims each stole a base in the second game of the series.

Breton notched her first multi-hit performance of the season in the loss, and the eighth of her career. Additionally, Byrd recorded the first three-hit game of her career, going 3-for-3 with one run scored. Joining Breton and Byrd with a multi-hit game was Shoulders who went 2-for-2 at the plate.

In the circle, the trio of Rich, Crawford, and Harvey combined to strike out eight EWU hitters.

GAME THREE:
In the fourth inning, Adams drove a double to left center field. The hit is the freshman's third double of the season.

Elissa Rich started the contest and struck out three batters in 3.2 innings of action.
