Clay Earns SIAC Freshman of the Year and All-SIAC Freshman Team Honors

ATLANTA, G.A. --- The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) announced Wednesday morning that Allen women's basketball freshman guard Eboni Clay has been named the SIAC Freshman of the Year and to the SIAC All-Freshman Team, as voted on by the league's coaches and communicators. Clay is the first Allen women's basketball player to ever earn both honors.

In Clay's freshman season she ranked inside the top-12 in the SIAC with an average of 11.3 points per game, and the most among her freshman competitors. Clay played an average of 31.8 minutes per game, which led Allen and ranked fifth in the league. The Portland, Oregon native also shot 77.6% from the free-throw line which was the third highest mark in the SIAC.

Serving as the point guard for an Allen offense that led the SIAC in scoring, Clay ranked inside the top-10 in the league with 2.4 assists per game. On the defensive end, Clay was fifth in the SIAC with 2.2 steals per game.

"Eboni has laid the foundation for herself to have an incredible college basketball career," said head coach Olivia Gaines. "As a staff, we never looked at her as a freshman but instead as a key leader on our team. Her discipline and maturity showed on the floor as she ran our offense from the point guard position. We're thankful that she chose us and Allen in the recruiting process, and we're very excited to see her continue to develop her game moving forward."

Clay scored in double-figures in 16 of Allens' 26 games during the regular season, including a career-best 21 points against Spring Hill on December 14, 2024.
