COLUMBIA, S.C. --- The 2024-2025 season for the Allen University women's basketball team ended Saturday as the Yellow Jackets fell in the opening round of the SIAC Tournament to LeMoyne-Owen, 78-70.
Despite scoring the game's first bucket, a jumper from
Sadie Williams, the Yellow Jackets trailed for the majority of the first half and went into the break down by 15 points, 42-27. However, the third quarter saw Allen storm out of the locker rooms with offensive purpose. The Yellow Jackets outscored the Lady Magicians, 30-13, in the third and took a 57-55 lead into the fourth. LeMoyne-Owen opened the fourth quarter on a 9-0 run to reclaim the lead to jump ahead 65-57 with 6:36 remaining. One minute later, and a three-pointer from
Eboni Clay retied the game at 65-65 with 5:25 to go. Despite their valiant comeback efforts, the Yellow Jackets were held to two baskets over the final five minutes of the game as LeMoyne-Owen held on to win.
Peighton Jambor led Allen in both scoring and rebounding Saturday as the sophomore recorded her fourth double-double of the season. Jambor totaled 20 points and 12 rebounds. Freshman guard
Morgan Smith added 11 points and six rebounds, followed by Clay with nine points, and
Taliah Wesley with eight points and 10 rebounds.
Allen finishes the 2024-2025 season with a (18-9) overall record and a (13-6) mark in SIAC play. Both the total wins and conference wins are the program's most in a single-season since transitioning to NCAA Division II in 2021.
