COLUMBIA, S.C. --- Allen University will host its first Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) basketball tournament game on Saturday, March 1, 2025. The contest will tip-off at 3:00 p.m. with the Yellow Jackets hosting LeMoyne-Owen inside John Hurst Adams Gymnasium. The unique opportunity to host a first-round game resulted from the Yellow Jackets earning a second-place finish in the SIAC Eastern division.
The game will be historic for both Allen and the SIAC. With a 18-8 overall record, that included a 12-6 conference record, the Yellow Jackets recorded the highest number of both overall and SIAC wins since Allen transitioned to NCAA Division II in 2021. The game marks the first SIAC playoff game, regardless of sport, to be hosted at Allen, and the premiere of the SIAC's new playoff format, which features two playoff sites in each division, as opposed to a single neutral venue for all games.
Led by first-year head coach Olivia Gaines, the Yellow Jackets garnered multiple national and conference honors throughout the season, including senior guard Taliah Wesley being named BOXTOROW HBCU National Player of the Week once and SIAC Player of the Week on four occasions, and also sophomore forward Peighton Jambor earning SIAC Newcomer of the Week on February 25.
Entrance doors will open at 2:00 p.m. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Allen University business office inside Arnett Hall beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, or at JHA Gymnasium on the day of the game for $20 per person. Allen University students with an identification card may purchase tickets for $5 each. Parking will be available on the Allen University campus for $5 per space. A clear bag policy will be in effect for the event.
