COLUMBIA, S.C. --- The Allen University men's basketball team was defeated Wednesday evening by Savannah State, 69-58.
After trailing by one point, 16-15, with 8:37 remaining in the first half, the Yellow Jackets went on a 6-0 run over the next two minutes to take a 21-16 lead against SSU. During that stretch,
Mike Best sank a jump shot and three-pointer, and
Jordan Edmond made one free throw. In the final seconds of the first half, with both teams tied at 30-30, Savannah State made a jumper to lead at the half 32-30. Despite a valiant effort, Allen never reclaimed their lead in the second half and ultimately sustained their second loss of the season to the Tigers.Â
Best reached double-figures for the second straight game with 14 points Wednesday.
Hunter Johnson added 11 points, four rebounds, and three assists to Allen's efforts.Â
Allen visits Benedict College for their final road game of the regular season on Saturday, February 22. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. inside HRC Arena.Â
