Clash of the Conference: Lady Yellow Jackets Hands Lane First Loss in Epic 75-74 Battle

Ridgeway’s Clutch Free Throws Seal the Deal in a Top-Tier SIAC Showdown

Game Recap: WBB | 12/5/2025 | By Phil Jackson, Allen University Director of Sports Information and Communications

Columbia, SC - In a battle that lived up to every ounce of the hype, Allen University Women's Basketball delivered a statement victory on Wednesday night, taking down previously undefeated Lane College, 75-74, in front of an electric crowd at John Hurst Adams Gymnasium. The Lady Yellow Jackets, sitting atop the SIAC East Division, welcomed Lane—the #1 team in the West—with one goal in mind: protect the Hive and make a conference statement. Mission accomplished.

With the game on the line, down 74-73 in the final seconds, Amaris Ridgeway took destiny into her own hands. Slicing through multiple defenders from coast to coast, Ridgeway attacked the rim with poise and purpose, drawing a crucial foul that sent her to the line with everything at stake. The gym fell silent. Two free throws later, Allen led 75-74—and never looked back.

Jambor Dominates, Depth Delivers

The Yellow Jackets' victory was a full-team effort, led by a monster performance from Peighton Jambor, who tallied 23 points, 15 rebounds, and 3 blocks, asserting her dominance on both ends of the court.

Allen's depth proved deadly, with five players scoring in double figures including Jambor:

This level of balance was key to matching Lane's firepower and ultimately overcoming their unbeaten streak.

Coach Gaines on Ridgeway's Moment

After the game, Head Coach Olivia Gaines was beaming with pride—not just at the win, but at Ridgeway's moment of truth:

"I couldn't be more proud of Amaris. She's worked tirelessly, and to knock down two clutch free throws in the 4th quarter was a direct result of her dedication and hard work. Amaris has been grinding both on and off the court, and it's paying off. She's everything a coach dreams of—committed, focused, and always ready to step up when the game's on the line. Her growth as a player and a leader is exciting to watch, but this is just the beginning. We've got more work to do, especially with LeMoyne (College) coming up this Saturday, but Amaris has set the tone for what's possible. Super proud of her!"

What's Next

This win wasn't just about standings—it was about culture, belief, and a signal to the rest of the SIAC: the Allen University Lady Yellow Jackets are here to compete at the highest level.

Up Next: The Yellow Jackets return to action this Saturday at 1PM, hosting LeMoyne-Owen College in another pivotal SIAC showdown. Be there. Feel the energy. Witness the rise.
