Yellow Jackets Begin Season With Loss to Converse

COLUMBIA, S.C. --- Allen women's soccer began their third season as a program Thursday afternoon as they faced-off with in-state foe, Converse University. Despite a score from Tatyana Machado, the Yellow Jackets were unable to push past the Valkyries, falling 7-1. 

After scoring 14 goals a season ago, Machado found her first score as a sophomore in the 64th minute on a free kick. The Yellow Jackets would continue to pressure Converse with their offensive attack, but were unable to sneak any additional shots past the keeper. 

In goal for Allen, Measha Jones recorded 10 saves in her first match as a member of the soccer team, while playing the full 90 minutes. 

The Yellow Jackets aim for a bounce-back performance Wednesday, September 11 at Erskine College in Due West, S.C. The match is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
