COLUMBIA, S.C. --- In their season finale, Allen softball posted a late rally in game two, but it would not be enough as the Yellow Jackets dropped Saturday's doubleheader to Paine College, 7-0 in game one, and 5-3 in game two.
GAME ONE:
Allen tallied three hits in their game one effort Saturday, with
Elissa Rich recording her fourth double of the season. In addition to collecting a hit on her senior day, third baseman
Faith Robinson also stole a base to finish the season a perfect 4-for-4 on steal attempts.
GAME TWO:
The Yellow Jackets found a greater deal of offensive success later Saturday afternoon, scoring three runs off 12 total hits. Allen first broke through in the second inning as
Zykhia Crisler came home on an RBI groundout from
Ta'Keviya Sims, and cut into Paine's lead, 3-1. After scoring the first run of the day for Allen, Crisler drove in the second with an RBI single to centerfield. In the next at-bat, with the bases-loaded, Sims brought home
Makala Perez and tied the game, 3-3.
Paine regained the lead in the fourth inning, 5-3, but Allen did not go away quietly. The Yellow Jackets began to mount a rally in the seventh inning, with Perez, Robinson, and
Anjellet Corner stringing together three-consecutive singles. However, the Yellow Jackets were unable to extend their rally any further as Paine held on for the win.
