HOOVER, A.L. --- Allen softball dropped their final two games on day three of the SIAC Crossover Thursday, falling to Lane College, 8-1, and Tuskegee, 9-6.
GAME 1: Lane 8, Allen 1
With two runners in scoring position, Allen was able to plate a run in the fourth inning as Zariyah Stripling reached on a fielding error from Lane, which allowed Alaina Harvey to score from third base. Harvey, an Orlando, FL native, registered her sixth multi-hit game of the season in the effort as the freshman collected three hits in three at-bats. However, Lane posted a seven-run third inning that proved to be enough for the win.
In relief action, Naziha Alfred struck out seven Lane batters over 4.1 innings of work while holding the Dragons to just a single run.
GAME 2: Tuskegee 9, Allen 6
The Yellow Jackets took an early 3-0 lead in the first inning as Tania Shoulders scored on a wild pitch, Destiny Breton came home on a wild pitch, and Harvey picked up an RBI on a groundout to score Makala Perez. Then in the third inning, Harvey doubled to left field to once again score Perez and extend Allen's lead, 4-1. Later in the fifth, Anjellet Corner connected on a double of her own down the left field line to push the Yellow Jackets ahead, 5-2. Yet, Tuskegee found success in the fifth and sixth frames, scoring a total of seven runs to take their first lead of the game, 9-5. Allen responded with a run in the top of the seventh, on an RBI groundout from Corner, but it would not be enough to overcome as the Golden Tigers came away victorious.
