Allen Downed by SIAC Foe Albany State Saturday

COLUMBIA, S.C. --- Allen University's football team was defeated by Albany State Saturday, 57-17.

Facing an early 20-0 deficit with 8:08 to play in the opening quarter, Allen was able to find the end zone following a three play, 67-yard drive that was capped off by a 49-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jamir Dismukes to wide receiver Nanders Lawrence. A native of nearby Dixiana, S.C., Lawrence caught the short pass at the Albany State 30-yard line and was able to create running room down the right sideline to secure the score.

Lawrence finished the night with a career-high 93 receiving yards on three catches.

Albany State scored two additional touchdowns before the Yellow Jackets saw Fabian Duncan stretch past the goal line for a one-yard touchdown run to close out a 15 play, 78-yard scoring drive with 3:45 left in the second quarter.

Later in second, with 29 seconds to play. kicker Sam Herman drilled a career-long 40-yard field goal. However, ASU was able to score a final touchdown before the half ended and took a 41-17 lead into the break.

In the second half, Allen was unable to add to it's scoring total but Albany State managed to score two touchdowns and record a safety.

Dismukes completed 10-of-17 passes for 176 yards for one touchdown and two interceptions in the loss.

Allen's run game found efficiency Saturday night as the Yellow Jackets out gained the Golden Rams on the ground, 135-124. Duncan led all Allen rushers with 68 yards on 21 carries, followed by Dismukes with 46 rushing yards on 15 touches.

The Yellow Jackets travel to Fort Valley State Saturday, October 12. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. and the game will be televised on ESPN+.
