Allen University, led by head coach Teddy Keaton, makes its first ever appearance in the HBCU top 10 in school history coming in at #10 with 23 voting points, just four behind 9th ranked Central State, who they will face on the road on Sept. 23. The Yellow Jackets are ranked after starting the season 2-0 with wins over Erskine and Columbus State by a combined score of 73-17.

#10 Allen, led by QB David Wright on offense and LB Gary Bourrage on defense, will next try to continue their hot start when they begin SIAC play this weekend hosting Kentucky State at 7 PM from Westwood High Stadium in Blythewood.

The Benedict Tigers remain unscored upon, undefeated, and No. 1 in the HBCU Division II Coaches Poll powered by BOXTOROW released this season. The Tigers received all but one first place vote. The Tigers however aren't the only undefeated team in the poll. No. 2 Virginia Union, No. 3 Tuskegee, No. 4 Virginia State, No. 6 Miles, and No. 10 Allen are all undefeated. The top five teams from Week 1 remained in the top five with BC, VUU, and Tuskegee retaining the top three spots.
