Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Lady Yellow Jackets Can't Complete Comeback at CSU

WILBERFORCE, OH - The Allen University women's basketball team could not quite come all the way back in the second half as they fell 54-46 on the road Monday night at SIAC West foe Central State University.

CSU got out to a fast start leading 18-7 after the first quarter before increasing their advantage at halftime to 38-15 after shooting 40 percent in the first half and holding Allen to just 3 made baskets.

However, AU came out charging in the third quarter going on a 14-7 run in the third quarter to trail just 45-29 heading to the fourth. Allen then outscored the Lady Marauders again in the fourth quarter 17-9, but could get no closer than 8 points the rest of the way.
AU ended up only shooting 25.5 percent from the floor for the game as they struggled shooting the ball on the night while CSU did not shoot much better at 30 percent and only 16 percent from three.

Senior guard Kash Hankerson led the Allen offense scoring 13 points  along with a career-high of 8 steals, 5 rebounds and 2 blocks. Junior forward Kasey Smith also played well tallying 7 points and 7 rebounds with 2 steals while guard Taliah Wesley added 8 points, 2 rebounds, and a steal.
Guards Maya Johnson and Nari Coe also combined for 11 points with Coe adding two steals while sophomore point guard Kynew Barnwell led with three assists and grabbed five boards.

Allen falls to 4-5 overall and 1-3 in the SIAC with the tough defeat while CSU improves to 3-6 and 2-2 in the conference. Allen will next have a month off until getting back to action in the new year when they head down to Alabama to battle Tuskegee on January 4.
