Women's Soccer Upsets D-1 Chicago St.

CHICAGO, IL - The Allen University women's soccer team began their season finale two-game trip to Div. I Chicago State by making school history. Allen finished out their season with a match against the Lady Cougars Friday night where AU pulled off a huge win for the new program defeating the D-1 Cougars 3-1 to close their season with a 6-11-1 record.

The win over a Div. I opponent is believed to be the first victory for Allen Athletics over any Division 1 foe.

AU 3, CSU 1
Leading the Lady Yellow Jackets was freshman striker Tatyana Machado as she got AU on the board first with her 15th goal of the season in the 16th minute of action off an assist from freshman midfielder Alexia Valasquez. Then, seven minutes later, Machado made it 2-0 Jackets as she scored in the 27th minute off an assist from senior forward Acacia Small. Machado finishes her rookie campaign with 16 goals.

Chicago St. would come back with a goal of their own in the 34th minute to get to within one at 2-1 at the intermission while barely leading Allen in shots 4-3. In the second half, Allen adde a much-needed insurance goal in the 70th minute from junior midfielder Tonie Sledz to put AU up 3-1 as they would go on to grab the historic victory.
Sophomore goalkeeper Kaiyah Robinson was able to make 2 saves on 3 shots on goal for her second win of the season.

CSU 5, AU 1
However, Allen fell 5-1 in the first match on Thursday evening, which was considered an exhibition match.
CSU scored three goals within the first 15 minutes of the match to take a commanding 3-0 lead before taking a 4-0 lead at the break. Allen's Machado then scored her 14th goal of the season in the 59th minute of action but Allen could only manage three total shots on goal while CSU had 8. Chicago St. finishes their season 4-12.

AU held the Cougars to just three shots in the entire second half while goalkeeper Kaiyah Robinson made 3 saves on 8 shots on goal. Machado led with two total shots.
